The idea is that a record of something valuable stays where its owner put it, and nowhere else.
Why
A record of something valuable is worth protecting like the thing itself. Held on a company’s server, it can be exposed in ways its owner never sees: a breach at the provider, a demand served on the company instead of the person, a service that closes and takes years of entries with it. Software that keeps the record on the owner’s own device removes those risks by removing the server.
How we build
Privacy comes first. In every product the records are kept on the owner’s own device; the company keeps no customer accounts and holds no copy. The rest is particular to each product. Watch Vault Archive is encrypted at rest with a key only its owner holds, so the company cannot read, recover or hand over that data. With Watch Vault Tracker, the company collects no information about a collection.
What we publish
The company is building two products for watch collectors. Watch Vault Archive documents what a collector owns; Watch Vault Tracker records what a collector wears. They are separate products, and neither requires the other.
What comes next
The products today are for watch collectors. The same approach will serve other collector communities later.
